If you are interested in providing tissue samples for additional studies related to IBD, we also have an ongoing effort to build a comprehensive IBD tissue database. By collecting tissue we will be able to build a tissue bank, a place to store samples so they can be used for future studies. The ultimate goal of this imitative is to improve overall IBD care by making a database that can identify a large number of contributing factors to IBD, can identify therapies which may work best for certain patients, and may identify patients who are at a higher risk for complications from their IBD. This personalized approach to care will aim to optimize the benefits of therapies and minimize the risks. There is nothing additional that you need to do except check the box on the consent form to participate in future studies.
