Thank you for your interest in the University of Pennsylvania Gastroenterology Division Advanced IBD Fellowship Program!
The University of Pennsylvania offers a one-year intensive program committed to providing exceptional advanced interdisciplinary training in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases for dedicated physicians with the desire to advance the field and provide state of the art care. The IBD Section comprises of 12 gastroenterologists with a specific interest in IBD who see over 1000 new patients each year in the outpatient setting. The program goal is to provide training, resources, and mentoring necessary to propel participants to the next step in their career.
Advanced IBD fellows are expected to participate in IBD and GI conferences, research and clinical meetings, and journal review. Fellows will be encouraged and supported to apply to the national MILESTONE-IBD program. Additionally, the IBD fellow will have exposure and working opportunities with IBD multidisciplinary experts including colorectal surgery, pathology, dermatology, rheumatology, and nutrition.
Each fellow will receive regular mentoring with bidirectional evaluation and feedback. They will also receive mentorship on research project(s) with an expectation for abstract submission and manuscript publication. Fellows will also have the opportunity to lead and work in teams including with students, residents, GI fellows and advanced practice providers.
Applicants are eligible to apply if they have completed a 3-year general GI fellowship.
